Speaker Bio
Nataly Buslón is a Senior Researcher in Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and a member of UNESCO Women for Ethical AI (W4EAI) platform. Her research focuses on the social impact of AI, ethics, algorithmic bias, and equity-driven technology governance.
She holds a PhD and a Master’s in Sociology from the University of Barcelona (Cum Laude) and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of the Republic (Uruguay). She was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), where she studied AI’s impact on health, misÐãÐãÖ±²¥, and sex and gender bias in medical research.
Nataly has worked on projects for EU-funded initiatives, UN Women LAC, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Organization of American States (OAS), integrating a gender and human rights perspective into AI governance. She has also been a Visiting Researcher at Columbia University (2016), Stanford University (2022), and Umeå University (2024).
She is also an Ambassador for Women in Data Science (WiDS) Stanford, a member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) and the <A+> Alliance for Inclusive Algorithms LAC.
